Jair Bolsonaro has been taken into custody after authorities determined he posed a concrete flight risk while under house arrest.

The ex-president was sentenced of planning a military coup in the ninth month and sentenced more than 27 years in jail, but he continued under confinement pending court reviews.

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Justice Moraes said the move to detain the elderly politician was a preventative measure after recent developments came to light.

This encompassed attempting to break his electronic bracelet and a call for a supporters' gathering that could enable a chance to flee".

Context of Sentencing
