It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was removed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.
